Narrow Road Ministries' purpose is to establish a true New Testament church.
Using the scripture as a model, along with the insight of the church fathers
given in the extant writings, we believe it is possible to return to a place
which honors God in both faith and practice.
As a church we will seek to focus on those things which are relevant to
spiritual growth and devoted service. Worship and discipleship will always be
the primary functions of our fellowship. Believing irrelevant activities within
the church give rise to division and carnal impulses, they will be resisted.
Because the example in scripture is that of individuals serving, not
institutions, it will be our goal to place that burden in the hands of our
members rather than committees and boards which exist to govern others. Members
must be content with serving in the fields of harvest and in the lives of the
lost around them. Only those who serve and bear fruit faithfully in the fields
will be eligible to serve as leaders of the congregation.
As a congregation, we will seek to have a purpose greater than ourselves.
Instead of building an institution which tends to its own, we will seek to build
a fellowship whose sole purpose is the eternal fate of others. As a fellowship
of believers, we will use the resources available to us to present the gospel to
a lost world instead of using those resources selfishly upon ourselves. Our
focus as a fellowship will always be those outside our church, not those in it.
Realizing we must reach and disciple the coming generations, we will endeavor
to explore all avenues to find an effective and strategic means of doing so. We
seek to make a mark on the world and not simply on each other. It is our desire
that our legacy is one that brings about reform in the churches of the world. We
desire to have such a profound change in the minds of the skeptics, seekers and
the lost around us as to lead them to Christ as Lord.
Lastly, we recognize that apart from Christ we can do nothing. Christ and
Christ alone can bless and anoint this effort and on Him we are utterly
dependent for guidance, strength and wisdom in all things. We will always look
to Him and yield to Him as Lord for His honor and His glory!
Amen!
